New ADHD Assessment Partnership for Scotland

Makewell and Right Medicine Pharmacy Partner to Expand Access to Face-to-Face Adult ADHD Assessments Across Scotland

Makewell, the nurse-led private healthcare provider specialising in ADHD and autism assessments, has announced a new partnership with Right Medicine Pharmacy, one of Scotland’s leading independent pharmacy groups.

The partnership will bring private, face-to-face adult ADHD assessments to multiple locations across Scotland, giving more people access to high-quality, clinically rigorous assessments within their local communities.

By combining Makewell’s clinical expertise in neurodevelopmental assessment with Right Medicine Pharmacy’s trusted network of community pharmacies, the partnership will provide adults with a convenient and personal alternative to travelling long distances or relying solely on remote consultations.

Right Medicine Pharmacy has served patients across Scotland since 2000 and has grown to become one of the country’s largest independent pharmacy groups. Its established network provides an ideal setting for Makewell to bring specialist assessment services closer to the people who need them.

For many adults in Scotland seeking an ADHD assessment, the options have historically been limited to lengthy NHS waiting lists or online-only private providers offering remote consultations. This partnership changes that, giving people direct, local access to a face-to-face assessment delivered in a setting many already know and trust.

ADHD is a condition that affects how the brain works and can influence attention, organisation, impulse control and activity levels. In adults, it can affect different areas of everyday life, including work, education, relationships and the ability to manage tasks and responsibilities. Some people reach adulthood without recognising that the difficulties they have experienced may be connected to ADHD.

A comprehensive ADHD assessment considers more than a list of current symptoms. It explores a person’s developmental, medical and mental health history, as well as how their experiences affect different areas of their life. This reflects established clinical guidance that ADHD diagnosis should be based on a full clinical and psychosocial assessment rather than a questionnaire or rating scale alone.

Under the partnership, adults across Scotland will be able to access private ADHD assessments in person, closer to home, without needing to travel long distances or rely solely on video consultations. By working through Right Medicine Pharmacy’s existing network of sites, Makewell is able to extend its assessment services well beyond a single clinic location, reaching communities that have often been underserved by specialist neurodevelopmental services.

“For too long, getting a proper ADHD assessment has meant either waiting years on an NHS list or trying to navigate the process entirely over a screen,” said Jane Lambert, Founder and CEO of Makewell. “Partnering with Right Medicine Pharmacy means we can bring genuine, face-to-face, clinically rigorous assessments into communities right across Scotland. As a nurse myself, and as someone who has navigated this system personally as a parent, I know how much it matters to sit in a room with someone who understands what you’re going through, not just a screen.”

Richard Stephenson, Managing Director of Right Medicine Pharmacy added: “Our pharmacies have always been about more than medicines. We want to be the first place people turn to for healthcare in the communities we serve. Working with Makewell allows us to bring that approach to ADHD assessments, giving adults across Scotland easier access to support that is local, personal and built around them. We’re incredibly proud to be bringing this service into our pharmacies.”The partnership is expected to benefit adults across Scotland who have long faced some of the most significant barriers to diagnosis in the UK, including those living in rural and remote communities where specialist neurodevelopmental services are scarce.

By bringing assessments into local, familiar healthcare settings, Makewell and Right Medicine Pharmacy aim to reduce waiting times, minimise the need for extensive travel and ease some of the anxiety people may experience when seeking an assessment in an unfamiliar clinical environment.

Assessments delivered through the partnership will follow the same clinical standards and rigour as Makewell’s existing services, ensuring reports are fully recognised by employers, educational institutions, and other healthcare providers.
